The Welcome Party of College of International Students of Wuxi University was a success.For the purpose of fostering unity among international students, exploring campus culture,encouraging students’ creative impulses to boost their confidence and more importantly, offering a gratifying welcome to the new students, the College of International Students of Wuxi University held its 3rd “Freshmen Welcome Party” on 26thOctober 2022.
The party was successfully held in room 103 of the school’s Big Hall. There were approximately 130 attendees at the party including the Dean of College of International Students, Chinese and foreign teachers, international students on campus and a number of Chinese students whose presence animated the occasion.
For the attendees, the feeling of being part of this year’s party was so exceptional and indescribable. It is something they will forever keep in the archive of their college life experience.
The party was organized with the theme “We For All Walk Towards The Light”, which got off the ground in the order of these activities. Host opening speech, singing performance, Dean speech, old and new students’ representatives' speeches, Chinese students’ dance performance (activities for the official ceremony), games, host conclusion speech and lastly, with a glittering group photo (activities for the second part of the event).
In a cozy, calm, yet cheerful environment the party commenced with a powerful host opening speech.
After the speech, there was a classical song performance from international students which got everyone thrilled. The song performed had tuneful melodies which wowed the audience.
With a warm welcome of the audience, the Dean of the School of International Education gave a speech after the performance.
His speech was centered on expressing his best wishes to all students of the college, most particularly the new students and also emphasized the need for them to work hard in their studies so they could secure a future which will not only better their life but also establish them as a bridge between China and their motherland.
After the Dean’s speech, the crowd cheerfully welcomed Gabriel, who was the senior students’ representative to give an outstanding speech in Chinese. His Chinese speaking ability undoubtedly blew away the minds of many and left them dumbfounded. His speech highlighted his will to come and study in China and also sent out his warm welcome to the new students.
The event proceeded with a speech from the new students’ representative, Denis, who talked about how excited and lucky he is, being a student of the college. In his speech, he encouraged his fellow schoolmates to work hard so they could reach their goal of life in the end. His speech was also read in Chinese which showed the dedication of International Students to learning the Chinese language.
The speech mentioned above was followed with a spectacular dance performance from Chinese students. The performance truly electrified the stage and won the applause of everyone. It was simply one of a kind.
And finally, the main activities for the official ceremony were successfully carried out. The second half of the event kicked off with games which were carried out by yet another host, by the name Wiafe Junior. Before the games started, snacks were sent out as gifts to all the audience with the help of the volunteers. The audience received the gifts with cheerful hearts and smiling faces.
Just after the gift sharing, the audience were urged to take part in a selfie challenge activity, where each participant took a selfie and uploaded to a WeChat group. The winner of the challenge was selected based on the nicest selfie and was given a winning prize.
Three games were played in total with the first being “You Perform I Guess”, the second being, “The Fun Relay PK” and lastly “How Many Bowls of Rice”. Winners of each game received special gifts.
Indeed, all the games played, were excellent and quite engaging as they created a really fascinating and thrilling atmosphere in the auditorium. The room was filled with laughter as teachers and students joined to play the game.
After the games, the host came in with a heartwarming closing remark and vote of thanks.
And before everyone looked into each other’s eyes and said goodbye, all teachers, students and everyone present came together for a group photo which will forever hold back our memories to the bond we shared on that great day.
After the party, many participants sent their selfies to us and let’s enjoy their happy faces together.
Everything was just so beautiful and the event was too lovelier. But to makes things even greater, we will keep working hard and stay focused on the theme, “We All Walk Towards The Light."
